My 4yo dachshund had her first IVDD episode 3 days ago. Vet said no surgery needed but strict crate rest for 6-8 weeks. I’m exhausted and second-guessing everything. She cries when I leave the room, won’t eat unless I hand-feed, and I’m worried I’m being too soft. How did everyone manage the first week mentally? Is there a way to do this that doesn’t feel like torture for both of us?
